Well, on FictionAlley, a huge forum specifically for Harry Potter, I started a thread about this the day after HBP came out. And we had a massive argument - 1/2 of the people absolutely hated HBP while the other 1/2 said it was their favorite book.
What did you all think about it?
I can say that I was arguing alongside the people who didn't like the book. I was very, very disappointed. In my opinion, the book was less of the magic and adventure that I started reading the books for. There was too much about relationships and the characters all seemed like little kids having temper tantrums to keep the plot going. It was a lot like some crappy high school drama, in my opinion. I mean, there were parts that I liked but they didn't fit into a big picture like everything did in the first few books.
What surprised me on FA was that the two sides were complete extremes - no one seemed indifferent about HBP. There were the people who absolutely loathed HBP and wanted to murder JKR and there were people who claimed it was their favorite book in the series. There was no in-between.
So... any opinions?
