I suppose this would be considered historical fiction....
Has anyone read the book The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd? I just read it and took a test on it in school, and it's definitely one of the better books that my teachers have made me read. Usually I take the test and forget everything about the book, but this one left an impression on me. It's a sweet book, about a girl who learns that a mother isn't necessarily the woman who gave birth to you. I'm definitely NOT a big fan of feel-good emotional books about teenagers learning an important life lesson. I'm not going to be a teenager much longer, and this inspirational crap has yet to happen to me. But I actually did like this book, which surprised me. The ending didn't give me a bored feeling, in fact, I felt accomplished. I cried and laughed and smiled and got that tingly feeling down my spine all at the right moments. I really do suggest that the girls should read it, and some guys in my class liked it, too. They're planning on making a movie with Dakota Fanning as the main character, which will probably ruin it... so I hope you read it before the movie comes out...

I've never read it but I think my mom did. And if she read it must be somewhat entertaining because she never usually finishes any books she begins lol.
